FUNCTION

A protective device is a mechanical switch used to:

• automatically disconnect the circuit from the supply when the current exceeds a pre-defined maximum
• connect/disconnect a current circuit with a supply via a manual switch

PERSONAL PROTECTION

Prevents dangerous currents entering the body as a result of too high contact voltages through insulation faults, earth contact

FIRE PROTECTION

Protects cables and connections against excessive heat due to overload, short-circuits and earth contacts.
